Created in 1996 in Brussels, Transcultures is an interdisciplinary centre for digital and acoustic cultures. It aims to promote and develop the crossing of contemporary artistic practices and the challenges of society and technologies. Since 2008, Transcultures is located in Mons, in former abattoirs, and supports the production, mediation and reflexion for digital, electronic and acoustic designers and cultures at the international level. Transcultures hosts artists in residence on a regular basis in the framework of Pépinières’ Map programme, coordinates the City Sonic festival of sound arts as well as the platform Les Transnumériques.
At the occasion of two editions in 2013 and 2014, Transcultures took part in Pépinières’ Park in progress programme and presented European transdisciplinary production within their City Sonic festival.
